Wunderground is a Seattle brand from a Starbucks alum, sold in a Capitol Hill cafe and a SeaTac airport kiosk, and it has taken the opposite bet to RYZE: instead of a cheap 2 g blend, Brain Wash puts 5,000 mg of fruiting-body extract in every stick. That is the largest disclosed dose of any coffee we track, and it comes with a beta-glucan percentage most brands will not print.
Taste
Our two-week test is still running, so this is drawn from the ingredient list and reviewer consensus. Reviewers consistently describe Brain Wash as coffee-first — a proper roasted flavour rather than the thin instant note — with a noticeable earthy, slightly bitter finish. That finish is what 5 g of dual-extracted mushroom, including reishi and chaga, will do; RYZE and Atlas+ hide it behind creamer and sweetener, Wunderground does not.
Price and value
$50 for a 30-stick carton is $1.67 per serving, and the site was showing "last units" when we checked, so availability wobbles. Subscription takes 35% off the first month. Per milligram of mushroom it is actually cheap; per cup it is one of the pricier options.
Transparency
Strong on the things most brands skip — fruiting body, extraction method, lab-verified beta-glucan — and weak on the one thing everyone skips: the per-species split. Divided evenly, 5,000 mg is about 1,250 mg each, which would put lion's mane at the low end of the 1,000–3,000 mg/day study range and cordyceps within its range. The label does not let you confirm that split. We also could not find a published heavy-metal COA, only the beta-glucan verification.
