What's on the label vs. what the research used
| Mushroom | Label dose / serving | Part used | Dose in named human studies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lion's Mane | part of 667 mg blend | fruiting body | 1,000–3,000 mg/day |
| Reishi | part of 667 mg blend | fruiting body | 1,400–5,400 mg/day of extract |
| Chaga | part of 667 mg blend | fruiting body | No completed human RCTs |
Why it's on our radar
Shroomi is the brand both Bon Appétit and WIRED named their best mushroom coffee of 2025, and it got there by doing something most of the category does not: selling a genuinely good single-origin ground coffee and treating the mushrooms as an addition rather than the headline. Four 10 oz SKUs, each a different origin and roast, plus a half-caf Peru for evenings.
Taste
We have not finished our two-week test of every roast, so this section leans on the ingredient list and on consistent reviewer reports. The bag is 95% coffee by weight, and reviewers consistently describe it as tasting like the origin on the label — chocolate and citrus in the Nicaragua, brighter fruit in the Mexico — with no earthy or bitter mushroom note. That is what you would expect at a 5% extract ratio; reishi is the one that usually shows, and here it is diluted well below the taste threshold.
Price and value
$36.99 for 24 servings is $1.54 a cup at the one-time price, $1.67 for the half-caf. That is more than RYZE or the Amazon value brands and a little under Four Sigmatic's instant packets. You are paying for specialty-grade coffee as much as for mushrooms.
Transparency
Better than most, with one catch. Shroomi states the part used (fruiting body), publishes a certificate of analysis, and gives each species as a percentage of the 16,000 mg bag total. What it does not give is mg per serving, so you have to divide: about 670 mg of total mushroom per cup, roughly 290 mg lion's mane, 350 mg reishi and 70 mg chaga. Those are sprinkles next to the 1,000–3,000 mg/day lion's mane trials, and the label's big bag-level number obscures that.
Verdict
The best-tasting ground option we have found and one of the most honest labels, but the actual per-cup dose is modest. Pick it if you brew real coffee every morning and want a small, well-sourced mushroom addition without changing your routine.

Frequently asked questions
How much caffeine is in Shroomi mushroom coffee?
Shroomi states about 80 mg of caffeine per 8 oz cup for its regular roasts, which is a little under a standard brewed coffee. The Half Decaf Peru blend is sold as a lower-caffeine option, but the product page does not publish a separate mg figure for it, so treat it as roughly half.
How much lion's mane is in a cup of Shroomi?
Shroomi lists 16,000 mg of mushroom per 10 oz bag, split as 43.2% lion's mane, 52.5% reishi and 10.8% chaga by the brand's own figures. With 24 servings per bag that is about 670 mg of total mushroom per cup and roughly 290 mg of lion's mane, well under the 1,000–3,000 mg/day used in human trials.
Does Shroomi use fruiting body or mycelium?
Fruiting body. Shroomi says explicitly that it uses 100% fruit-body mushrooms and contrasts that with mycelium grown on oats, which is the cheaper input many blends use. It also publishes a certificate of analysis covering heavy metals and microbiology, which is rarer than the fruiting-body claim itself.
How much does Shroomi cost per cup?
The regular roasts are $36.99 for a 10 oz bag of 24 servings, or $1.54 per cup at the one-time price. The Half Decaf Peru is $39.99, or $1.67 per cup. Subscription pricing is lower but the site does not display the exact discount without adding to cart.
